About Me

My photo
I live in La, work full time and dabble in art when ever I can. I would love to be able to do my art full time--who knows, maybe one day I will. In the past year, I started doing Festivals, trying to sell my Art. It is A LOT of work, but worth it. I have met so many people with the same interests as myself.

Musings

I did get to the studio this week and had a chance to
try my new Canon IX wide format printer.  The prints were great.  I got a total of 10- 8 x 10 canvas' completed and was so happy with the results.  I hope to get about 10- 10 x 10's done this weekend and a couple 5 x 5's.  I think that will be a good size selection.  It will help my inventory tremendously.

Also tried rusting some washers that I am going to use for jewelry.  I just bought a bag of washers from the hardware dept. at Walmart, dropped them in about a cup of bleach, added a rusty nail and closed the lid on the jar.  It rusted almost instantly.  So, remember this when you wanna make something look old.  Bleach works great.  Just beware of the fumes, they can be a bit strong.

Don't forget to jump over to my website @ http://venusbluesarthideaway.com and leave a comment for the November drawing--it will be one of the canvas prints.  Not sure which one yet.  But, I will post it on the web site within the week.

Hope that you all have a great day.

And the winner is................

Mooringsport Festival.
The free drawing was held at http://venusbluesarthideaway.com  and the winner was Jill Blevins!  Congratulation Jill.  Jill won the print "The Eyes of a Clown".  Next months free giveaway will be an original print on canvas.  Make sure you come by the site and leave a comment to be eligible for next month's drawing.

It is official--the Canon Printer beat out the HP printer--hands down.  It did every thing that I asked it to do without an hiccup.  If you want to make beautiful prints of all different sizes on all different medias, I recommend the Canon ix wide format printer.  It operated like a dream.  I love it!!!

Friday, At last.

Thank God it's Friday--Whew, long week.  Finally got the truck back yesterday--the Ford place couldn't find any issues with it. Weird!  Finally made it to the weekend, and I am going to try to install my new Canon printer.  The HP was returned and a vow has been made to NEVER buy another HP product.  After 10 hours on the phone with someone in India, it was determined that they were a bigger IDIOT than I was about this printer and could only suggest that I pay an additional 59.99 to help resolve my problems on a BRAND NEW PRINTER--WHAT!!!!! That didn't fly so I finally just told 'em that enough was enough and the printer could go straight back to India on a short boat--It was shipped off the following day.  So, then I started researching other wide format printers.  So far, the Canon won out.  I called their technical support BEFORE I bought the printer, just to find out who I would talk to if I had issues--someone in Chesapeake Va. --YES!!! A big red check for that!! Then I called customer support to find out who I would talk to--Chesapeake Va.--Yes!!! Another big red check.  After a lengthy  conversation with them I decided on a Canon wide format printer.  Will let you know Monday if it printed as it was supposed to (in wide format).  When I called HP tech. support about my WIDE FORMAT printer not printing in WIDE FORMAT--after 10 hours of support, their brilliant deduction was that my wide format printer did not and was not supposed to print in wide format.  That was the proverbial straw that broke the camels back.  I should have done more research first--a little too late for that.  And, by the way, they wouldn't post my review on the HP web site--wonder why :)  Goes ta show ya--reviews don't tell you everything--only what the Mfg. allows.

On a lighter note--the freebie drawing on my website http://venusbluesarthideaway is Sunday--don't forget to come by and leave a comment to be eligible for the Freebie--"Eyes of a Clown" print.

Hope that you all have a great weekend--

Freebie Giveaway for the month of September on the web site.

Got all ready--had the truck loaded to the gills for the Logansport show.  Made it over to Walmart on Mansfield road, filled up with gas and guess what?? The truck wouldn't start.  Nope, it wasn't the battery.  It was more than that.  After calling the car dealership and arranging for towing, we waited for an hour or so for the tow truck to get there--by then it was too late to head to Logansport.  So, off the truck goes with ALL  of my art in the back of it.  Thankfully, it is inside of a camper and it is locked up.  Still haven't heard what is wrong with the truck--something electrical is my guess.  Hopefully, they will find out something this morning. Que Sera Sera--right??
Okay everyone, don't forget--the picture above is a print of my original art work--it will be given away October 24.  So, don't forget to go to my website @ http://venusbluesarthideaway.com .  Just go to the "Giveaway" tab at the top of the page and leave a comment.  Your name will be added to the hat for the free drawing.

Good Luck!!!!

We had our Mooringport show this past weekend and I have to say, it was a disappointment.  There just weren't many people around.  I guess NO advertising is put out for this show and there were so many other festivals going on at the same time.  But, not all shows are gonna be good ones, right?  Anyway--next year I  think that I will try another show instead of this one.  I did have a treat though, we got to visit with my brother in law and his wife.  I always enjoy doing that.

I have started my print making.  I got 45 prints made and matted Sunday night.  I am going to start on the 11 x 17 next.  Hope that they turn out as well as the 8 x 10's did.  If they do, I will be happy.

I need to thank my friend and fellow artist Don Cook for giving me some great printing tips--so, Don if you are ready this--thanks a bunch!!!

I am going to try to get some of the festival pictures up here soon.

Hope that you all have a great day.

This is Lenore, another of my foundlings.  She is an Australian Sheppard.  She is such a sweetie, I don't know how anyone threw her away.   She was running with John  (our Great Pyrenese) that we found on Camp Minden.  She is my baby and makes every step that I make.

I have been busy the last couple of nights trying to get ready for the Mooringsport Show.  I think that I am about as ready as I am going to get except for the loading up.  I finished up the 5 pieces that I was working on now am pretty well caught up--Thank Goodness.

I have been redecorating my blog--trying to get ready for the holidays.  Let me know what you think.

The printer that I ordered Monday came in yesterday --lightning fast delivery.  Man, they are on the ball at HP.  Guess that they don't want anyone to change their mind.  If my other things come in from Dick Blick, I can begin making the prints.  We'll see how that goes.

Hope you all have a great day.

Don't forget to come by and leave a comment for the freebie drawing.

Honey
The picture above is a picture on Honey, she was an abandoned kitten that we found when she was about 3 weeks old.  Her mother quite taking care of her.  When we found her, she wasn't moving and had just enough left in her to give one little meow.  We brought her in and gave her some fluids and warmed her up.  She made a remarkable recovery and is now about 3 years old.

Been busy getting ready for the fall shows.  The Mooringsport show is this weekend and I have about 5 pieces that I am trying to finish up so that I can add them to the show.

I have finally took the plunge.  I bought everything that I need to begin making prints of my art.  Hopefully, that will open up the field a little and help with the inventory problem.  I seem to always be running low on inventory, because I only sell originals.  I do have pictures of nearly every angel that I have painted and am planning on pulling out the file and reproducing some of my older angels.  So, for the Natchitoches show I hope to have some prints of older angels with me. I am really excited about this.  I just have to hunker down and get busy.  I hope to have the printer in by the beginning of next week, and all of the other supplies should be following closely behind. I am hoping to get some prints made up and put on the web site also.

Don't forget to come over the the website @ http://venusbluesarthideaway.com and leave a comment.  I hope to have the piece posted by next weekend that will be given away. Leave a comment and your name gets put into the hat for the free drawing on Oct. 24.  Good Luck!!

Hope that you all have a great day.

Livin' the high life.............

Livin' the High Life

This little critter, along with all his brothers, sisters, cousins, nieces, nephews..........................and the list goes on and on and on.........live and play around my house.  This picture was taken on from my living room window and the squirrel was on my front porch enjoying life.  He stayed and played in the pot for nearly an hour.  My cats never missed a minute of it from the front window looking out.  We have so many squirrels and they get into so much, but every once in a while they will make you smile.  This is one of those times.  This little guy was lovin' life.

On another note--don't forget you have to re-register every month to be entered into the monthly drawing on my art website.  All you have to do is leave a comment on the "Comments" page to be entered.  Go to the site and enter now http://venusbluesarthideaway.com .  It will only take a minute and who knows, you may be the winner.  I will try to post the prize sometime next week.  It will be an original piece of art.

I had a very productive weekend.  I got out nearly 5 pieces.  No pictures yet but hopefully I can get them soon.  I have put the sealer on 4 pieces and have gotten one shadow box nearly complete.  If I work on them a night this week I will be ready for the show Saturday.

My BF Lynn came out yesterday and we had a good day just painting and talking.  Need to do that more often.  Time flies when you're having a good time--the weekend was gone before it started, or so it felt like it.

Hope you all have a great day.
