About Me

My photo
I live in La, work full time and dabble in art when ever I can. I would love to be able to do my art full time--who knows, maybe one day I will. In the past year, I started doing Festivals, trying to sell my Art. It is A LOT of work, but worth it. I have met so many people with the same interests as myself.

And the Winner Is............

Merry Christmas, Everyone.  Hope that you all had a wonderful holiday and that all of your Christmas wishes came true.

We have had our Dec. drawing and Nancy Sullivan of Mooringsport, La. is the winner!!  Congratulations Nancy!!

I hate to see the holidays end.  I really enjoy Christmas and the hustle and bustle leading up to it.  We had a great day though.  My son and his wife spent it with us.  We started the festivities around 8 in the morning and finished up last night.  We had a wonderful time.

From our house to yours, Merry Christmas and the happiest of New Years.

December Giveaway

Finally, the shows are over and the out-of-town- trips are behind me.  I feel like I can take a deep sigh of relief and get on with Christmas.  I get so tangled up in getting inventory built up and doing fall shows that I feel like the holiday season is passing me by.  I did get up to the studio this weekend and finish up some last minute details on some gifts that I made.  I feel like I am ready for Christmas.  Last night we popped in a few Christmas videos and chilled out on the couch with the cats and dogs.  It was a good evening.

If you haven't registered for the "freebie" giveaway this month, don't forget to do that.  Follow the link Venus Blues Art Hideaway , go to the "monthly giveaway" tab at the top and leave a comment--that's it.  Really easy!!!  This will be the last monthly giveaway     for awhile, so don't forget to sign up.

My last show was last weekend.  It was in Natchitoches.  It was an okay show.  My inventory of originals is so low. I have until the spring/summer shows to build back up.  It is really a welcome relief.

Have a great day.  F.

Oil City Show

If you haven't registered at my art website, you have until Dec. 24.  Follow the link @ Venus Blues Art Hideaway .  "Crying Hibiscus" is going to be this months prize.  It is an 8" x 10" print of my original art work mounted on a gallery frame.  Drawing will be Dec. 24.

Booth at Oil City, La.

We had our show in Oil City.  It turned out to be a good night weather wise.  They forecast rain for that  evening but it held off 'til after the show.  It was an Okay show--I have had much better, and a few worse.  I have found out one thing with my art.  The smaller and more conventional the town, the less I sell.  The larger and more diverse the crowd, the better I do.  I think that I am going to start doing the larger shows and start foregoing the small ones.  I think next year, after the holidays, I am going to start looking into the larger shows.

I am just about ready for Christmas.  I am going to try to get my Christmas cards out today.  If I can do that I will be ahead.

Hope that you all have a great day.

We Finally made it to the weekend--TGIf!!!!! Time to post my next free giveaway item.  For the month of Dec. the free drawing will be for my bleeding hibiscus.  It is an 8" x 10" print mounted on canvas. Remember-you have to re-register every month (leave a comment), your name doesn't carry over from month to month.

Good Luck!!!!

I have to get ready for another show this weekend--it is a night show, that will be my first one of those.  It will be at Oil City, La.  It starts at either 4 or 5 p.m.  There will be a fireworks show and vendors.

Natchitoches Show

We had our Natchitoches show and it went great.  Actually it was one of my best shows.  It was raining outside, but since we were inside, it was okay.  We have been in such desperate need of rain that I dare not complain, plus-I have always loved the rain.  The crowds were out in full force this past weekend, trying to get a jump on the Christmas Holiday, I guess.

These are some pictures of my booth that I had at the Natchitoches Show.  I am always trying to find the perfect set up.  Since every show is different, One day, I am going to get good at this.
Natchitoches @ night during the Christmas Festival

Natchitoches has a wonderful Christmas light festival every year.  It is great fun and the lights are beautiful.   They even had fake snow.  It was raining on this night but it didn't deter the merry makers--there were people galore! And, bumper to bumper traffic.
