About Me

My photo
I live in La, work full time and dabble in art when ever I can. I would love to be able to do my art full time--who knows, maybe one day I will. In the past year, I started doing Festivals, trying to sell my Art. It is A LOT of work, but worth it. I have met so many people with the same interests as myself.

Skin Deep

True Beauty Lies Beneath The Skin

Well, I finally finished this piece finished and it is now on my webpage--if you want to see it @ http://venusbluesarthideaway.com .  I am hoping that this weekend is a productive one.  I am making a piece of art for the "freebie" drawing on my webpage--so don't forget to go by and leave a comment to be eligible.  My art show is @ Grand Cane on Friday--I still have to decide what pieces I am going to put in.  I know that my "Conventionality" piece is going and maybe "Maggie's Tea Room"--besides that, I will have to do a little thinking on it.  We have an all night pour on Thurs. Night/Fri. Morning and the show Friday Evening--maybe I can get a nap in between.  Hope that you all have a great day.

Don't forget to come by and leave a comment for the freebie drawing

This is my beautiful little Shay.  She is also a rescue.  We got her from the pound about 5-6 years ago.  She has been a treasure.  She makes every step that I make and loves her blanket.

It was a good weekend.  I finished one of the projects that I have been working for about a month.  I will post pictures tomorrow--hopefully.

Tonight is a night pour--we will come into work at about 2:30 and pour concrete so I am not sure how much I will get accomplished this evening.  I did get another picture finished but have to frame it.  So, it turned out to be a pretty productive weekend.

Don't forget to come over to my webpage and register for the free giveaway--still trying to find something unique, but I will have it figured out by the time the drawing comes on the 25 of September.  I promise, what ever it is, it will be great!!!  So, come by to http://venusbluesarthideaway.com and leave a comment--that's all you have to do and I will enter your name in the drawing.

Hope y'all have a great day!!

Me and my foundlings

This is my foundling, John.  We found him on the last job that we did.  He is such a big sweetheart. We love him so much.  Animals make our world go around and they inspire us in so many way.  All together we have four dogs, 5 cats, 4 horses, 2 birds, and 2 sugar gliders.  The dogs and cats and 1 horse are all rescues.  They are my inspiration.  How can any creature that has been treated so badly be filled with so much love and show so much trust.  Our lives are filled with taking care of them and our cup runneth over.  I hope that I am always lucky enough to have them in my life.  If you are looking for a friend  for life, look no further than the puppy sitting at your feet. They will be there when the whole world turns away from you.

On a lighter note--I am hoping to get up to the studio this weekend and finish one of the projects that I have been trying to complete for about a month.  Hopefully, I will be able to get them done and start another.

Hope that you all have a great weekend.

Come Vist My New Web Site

I am so excited--my NEW website is up and running and looks great.  My neighbor/friend designed this for me and she did a wonderful job.  This is her first one and she did GREAT.  I think that this will help my sales tremendously.  There are so many times that people ask for a website when I do the shows and up 'til now, I didn't have one.  I can't wait to get it going.  So, if you get a chance come by and see it @
Venus Blues Art Hideaway . This piece on the right is the piece that I just finished.  It is called "Skin Deep".  I don't have this one on the site yet but hope to within a couple of days.  I am considering taking it to the Art show in Grand Cane, I am not sure yet.  Stay Cool.  F.

Froggie Went  a Swimming on a hot summer night, uh huh.

I know, I know, I know-I sound like a broken record, but this summer has been awful.  I am so ready for the fall months.  I know they are around the corner, I just have to wait a little longer.  Made it up to the studio this weekend and had a pretty good showing.  My mosaic shoes have a good start, but I have silicone on them and had to go get silicone remover to get it off.  I am getting ready to go up there and try it.  I did finish 2 other pieces.  I will get pieces of them tonight.

Hope everyone stays cool.  F.

Slow Week

The piece up above is my "Pearls of Wisdom" piece.  It is already spoken for.  I am taking her to the Grand Cane show.  I have found that my new best friend is Epoxy Clay.
It is user friendly, paints easily and  dries virtually indestructible.  I love it.

I haven't had a chance to get up to the studio this week--actually I have had the chance, but  haven't had the want to.  It has been incredibly hot here.  Yesterday it was 109 degrees and there seems to be no release in sight.  I keep thinking that it is going to cool off but it hasn't yet.  But this weekend--for sure, I am going to try to finish at least several of my Projects that I have started.  My BF birthday is coming up soon and I went shopping for her last night--can't say what I found because she might look at this blog--Lynn, if you're readin' this, ya just have to wait--ha ha.

Another hot weekend has come and gone--actually Saturday was pretty nice, but yesterday was 106.  I am so ready for this heat to go away.  I did make it up to the studio this weekend--both days.  I worked on the piece shown above.  It is almost complete.  I also worked on two other pieces, both have a little way to go.  I will post new pictures of this piece when I finished.  I know that it looks a little gory in this picture--hopefully it will convey the message when it is done.  Hope that you all had a great weekend.

Steampunk Elvira

T.G.I.F.
I love, love, love the weekends. This weekend I have many plans.  Just hope that I can get to get into my studio this weekend. I have lots of things started, just need to get it done!! I think that my web site will be up and running soon.  I am so excited about that.  Believe it or not--the hardest part for me is figuring out the shipping. I think that I have about figured it out. Just a lot of research. I would have thought that the shipping would have been easier to figure out.  I will be sure to post my web site address as soon as I get it up and running.

Hope that you all have a great weekend.

Almost

Melrose Plantation
Hot, hot, hot--Is it ever gonna cool off???  I am beginning to believe that this is a perpetual summer--But I know, sooner or later that it's going to end.  Last week was 107 and 108, this week is 103 and 104. I guess it is a cool down--kinda.  Last night I almost made it out to the studio.  Almost.  I did get a couple things put together to go out there, but then the phone rang.  That's it.  Done.  I really need to get busy before the fall months get here--so much to do.

I am ready to start decorating for the fall--but first, I want to redo my front porch.  Then it will be nice and fresh and clean.........After the barn, that is my next project-

Stay Cool

Back to Work

I took off last week to spend  some time with my mom who was visiting from Maryland.  We had a good week--even though it was tremendously hot--it didn't stop us from shopping.  I didn't make it up to the studio at all, too much other stuff going on.  Mom left early Friday morning.  I managed to get a few hours in Friday and most of the day Sat. and a few hours Sunday.   I really have to hit it hard if I am going to have any pieces ready for my fall shows.  My inventory is so low right now.  I have three pieces started at different stages of completion and plans for so much more--all bottled up inside my head, just waiting to burst out.  Time is my enemy.  I just don't have enough of it to do everything that I want to do.  Working full time really takes a cut out of it and then add the upkeep of the house, land and animals and there ya go--very little left. I hope to get up there some in the evenings.  I feel so much more energized in the fall months.   Stay cool. F.

Bargain Shopping

My mom made it down this week and we have been doing some serious bargain shopping.  I think that I have shopped more this week than I have the entire year.  Yesterday we hit Bossier City, the previous 2 days we hit Shreveport.  The heat down here is unbelievable.  Yesterday was 109 Degress and the day before was 108.  I think that it is supposed to be 108 again today.  I am ready for relief.  I got my water bill yesterday.  It has tripled.  Guess all that watering caught up with me.  Really, you have no choice, you either have to water or let every thing die.  I hate to do that.  It just goes against the grain.  We are getting ready to go to UPS.  Mom has bought so many clothes she has to ship some back home.  I think that she has enjoyed herself though.

Be cool :)

Down in the South

Mom made it down Friday Night/Sat. Morning and we just kinda relaxed Sat.  Yesterday we went to Jefferson, Tx.  We went to the antique stores.  We had a really good time but it was soo hot.  Some of the stores there do not have air conditioning and they had to be 110-115 degrees in the back.  I think the outside temperature there was 106 degrees.  It is just hot.  I will be so glad to see this summer end.  Come on fall is my daily mantra.  I do like the summer, I just don't like the extremes.  I found a couple of neat things when I was out yesterday.  I found my BF a couple of her birthday presents and I found an old pair of baby shoes to use in a piece of work.  I also found an ancient juicer to go with my ancient ice crusher.  I just love old things.  So much history behind them.  You have no idea how many hands have held them or whose hands have used them--so mysterious.  Today we will probably go shopping at an antique store here and shreveport and my favorite store--Good Will.

Hope that you all have a great day--stay cool.
